The elderly woman, just like always, entered the store at exactly seven in the morning. It was the time when the 24-hour store was still empty \u2014 only night shift workers and the occasional sleepless passerby came in at that hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She always came right on schedule \u2014 every Tuesday and Friday. Everyone knew her visit would be quiet and unnoticeable, like the morning mist hiding the city from the sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Approaching the register with a loaf of bread, she began rummaging in her purse again. She wasn\u2019t in a hurry, carefully counting each coin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSweetie,\u201d she suddenly said, addressing the cashier, \u201ccould you buy me some milk\u2026 I don\u2019t have anything left\u2026 My pension\u2019s been delayed \u2014 they promised it\u2019ll come Monday. I\u2019ll pay you back, I promise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the cashier didn\u2019t even look up. She quickly scanned the bread and swept the coins into the register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t a charity,\u201d she said coldly, in the tone everyone had grown used to. \u201cWe hear stories like this every day. No pension, lost cards\u2026 Just go already.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The old woman\u2019s shoulders sank even lower, and avoiding eye contact, she took her bread and headed toward the exit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But just as she reached the door, a young woman approached the register. She gave the rude cashier a tough lesson \u2014 and helped the grandma .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe manager of this store is my uncle. And you know what? He\u2019s been saying it\u2019s time to \u2018freshen up\u2019 the staff. Looks like we\u2019re starting with you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The red-haired woman quickly grabbed a basket \u2014 milk, cheese, apples, tangerines, grains, meat \u2014 and walked over to the grandma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet\u2019s go, I\u2019ll walk with you. And don\u2019t worry \u2014 from now on, you\u2019ll always have what you need.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The elderly woman nodded quietly, her eyes full of tears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
